About
The Dingle Nursery is a long established third generation family run business which supplies both the horticultural trade and private buyer. Located amongst the hills of mid Wales, it has the added benefit of having a beautiful 4.5 acre secluded garden alongside, which will provide inspiration and ideas for the visitor.
The nursery began in 1968, when Andy and Kath Joseph started growing Christmas trees on an acre of his parents land. At the same time Andy’s mother Barbie gradually began developing an area of their farmland into a spectacular garden which runs alongside the Dingle retail nursery. Since then it has grown into a hugely successful concern involving other family members and a core team of knowledgeable staff who have been there for many years.
The Dingle Nursery, with a growing area of over 200 acres, offers a huge range of plants, from alpines, perennials and bare–rooted hedging, to semi-mature trees and shrubs. More specialist or unusual plants are sourced from other British nurseries.
The nursery is well laid out and the setting is beautiful, with far reaching views across the Welsh hills. The staff are very helpful and enthusiastic, taking time to give advice on garden ideas and planting schemes. Tea and coffee is available free of charge, as well as access to a selection of gardening books, helping you to take time over your choices of plants.
Help is at hand when it comes to packing plants into your car, but they can also deliver nationwide if you’ve miscalculated! Delivery on a large scale is also available.
Next to the nursery is the acclaimed RHS partner garden, with its secluded south-facing aspect and paths that wind down the slope to a lake and small waterfall. The garden is especially well known for its colour-themed and unusual planting, which includes lakeside, lawned and mixed bed areas that showcase a wide and unusual range of shrub, tree and herbaceous planting. This peaceful haven teeming with wildlife is the ideal spot for a relaxing stroll, inspiring visitors all year round.
The lifetime work of Barbara and Roy Joseph, this 4.5 acre garden is now run by her grandson Duncan and his wife Clare, with the support of the Joseph family and knowledgeable team at the Dingle Nursery.
The Dingle Nursery and Garden combine to offer an ideal day out, with something for everyone.
